"My Story: Why Purposeful Beginnings?"
Hello! I’m Padma Kumari Patnala and I believe in the power of taking small, meaningful steps towards personal growth. I started this blog because I wanted to create a space where people like you could find support, encouragement, and practical tips for living with intention. Life’s journey can often feel overwhelming, but when we break it down into manageable steps, we can make real progress. My goal is to help you achieve that sense of purpose, one step at a time. I’m here to share my own experiences and the lessons I’ve learned, hoping they can inspire and guide you.
The Power of Small Steps: A Personal Journey
A few years ago, I was feeling stuck in my creativity. I had always considered myself a creative person, but it had been a long time since I felt inspired. My work was taking up all my energy, and in the process, I lost touch with the small things that once sparked joy in my life-like drawing and Sketching. I missed the act of creating for the sake of creativity, without any pressure or expectation. But I felt like I had no time to pursue it.
One evening, after a particularly long and stressful day, I decided to do something small but intentional: I picked up my sketchbook. I didn’t aim to create a masterpiece. Instead, I promised myself that I would spend just 10 minutes drawing anything that came to mind. No expectations, no rules-just free-flowing expression. I told myself, "Even if it’s just a Scribble, I’ll do it for myself."
The first few minutes were challenging. I was rusty, and my hand felt stiff. But slowly, something shifted. I allowed myself to just draw without worrying about whether it was “good” or “bad.” I drew squiggly lines, abstract shapes, and random patterns. In those 10 minutes, I felt a sense of freedom I hadn’t experienced in a long time.
The next day, I decided to do the same. And then the day after that. I committed to sketching for 10 minutes every morning before work, without any pressure or goal other than to enjoy the process. Over time, those 10 minutes expanded into longer sessions, and my creativity blossomed. I began exploring different styles, experimenting with shading and color, and even incorporating other media like watercolors.
Eventually, I felt so inspired that I joined a local art group to share my sketches and get feedback. That small act of picking up my sketchbook had unlocked a new sense of joy and fulfillment, and it led me to take my passion for art more seriously. What began as a simple 10-minute sketch every day had completely transformed how I approached creativity in all aspects of my life. I learned that sometimes the most important thing isn’t about producing something impressive, but about making time for the process itself.
What I learned is that transformation doesn’t always happen in big leaps. It often unfolds quietly, in the small, consistent actions we take each day. And those small, intentional steps can lead to powerful, lasting change. If you're facing a challenge or a moment of uncertainty, don’t feel the need to rush into grand resolutions. Start with something small, something manageable. It might be as simple as waking up 10 minutes earlier to plan your day or taking five minutes before bed to reflect on what went well. Those small steps, when done consistently, will lead you to a new, purposeful direction.

Change doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It just needs to be intentional.
